Mega Evolution released worldwide on September 26, 2025 and opened the Mega Evolution Series, the first new series since Scarlet and Violet. It brings Mega Evolution back to the TCG as Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, which The Pokémon Company describes as working differently from the XY-era M Pokémon-EX: they evolve under the normal rules (no Spirit Link, your turn does not end), hit harder, and give up three Prize cards when Knocked Out. The set is led by Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex (each with its own Elite Trainer Box), with Mega Venusaur ex, Mega Absol ex, Mega Latias ex, Mega Kangaskhan ex, Mega Mawile ex, Mega Camerupt ex, Mega Abomasnow ex and Mega Manectric ex alongside. The Pokémon Company flagged two firsts in the announcement: ultra rare Item, Stadium and Pokémon Tool cards (ultra rares had been Pokémon and Supporters only), and the gold Mega Hyper Rare, a tier above the Special Illustration Rare that this set introduced with its two golds, Mega Gardevoir ex (187/132) and Mega Lucario ex (188/132).
This page is the reference list: every Mega Evolution card in set order, with the rarity names TCGplayer and most price trackers use, the illustrator credit, and the card text. If you want pull-rate math and buying advice for a hard set, our Pitch Black pull rates article covers that; if you want the other sets in the series, the card lists for Phantasmal Flames, Ascended Heroes, Perfect Order, Chaos Rising are built the same way.

Mega Evolution pull rates
Figures come from TCGplayer's sample of more than 5,000 packs, published in October 2025 (as covered by Wargamer, Deltia's Gaming and TCGtalk). They are community-tracked, not official Pokémon numbers, and a single box can land anywhere around them.
Rarity
Odds per pack
Notes
Double Rare
about 1 in 5 packs
Seven per 36-pack box.
Ultra Rare
about 1 in 12 packs
Three per box.
Illustration Rare
about 1 in 9 packs
Four per box.
Special Illustration Rare
about 1 in 101 packs
Roughly one every three boxes, for any of the ten SIRs.
Mega Hyper Rare
about 1 in 1,260 packs
One gold per 35 boxes, and with two golds in the set, a specific one is about 1 in 2,520 packs.
The practical reading: the odds above are for any card of that tier. The odds of the one card you are chasing are those odds divided by the number of cards in the tier, which is why a specific Special Illustration Rare is usually cheaper to buy as a single than to open for. Our Pitch Black article walks through that math for a harder set, and the 30th Celebration guide shows the opposite end of the scale.
The chase cards in Mega Evolution
The two golds, Mega Lucario ex (188/132) and Mega Gardevoir ex (187/132), sit at the top of this set, and unlike the later sets the golds here have stayed above the Special Illustration Rares of the same Pokémon. Below them, the Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex SIRs lead a ten-card SIR tier that includes Mega Venusaur ex, Mega Latias ex, Mega Kangaskhan ex, Mega Absol ex and four Supporters (Lillie's Determination, Acerola's Mischief, Wally's Compassion, Lt. Surge's Bargain). Lillie's Determination also has a popular Ultra Rare print (169/132).

We do not print prices in our guides because they go stale within days. TCGGuy Market Insights records the market price of every Mega Evolution sealed product nightly from public US marketplace listings and sales, with a set index, seven-day movers and each product's history, and the singles page ranks every card in the set by market value.
Bottom line: Mega Evolution is the set that defined the series' rarity ladder, and its pull rates are the baseline every later set gets compared with. The golds are genuinely hard, the SIR tier is deep, and the two Elite Trainer Boxes made Lucario and Gardevoir the faces of the era. Open it for the breadth of the Mega lineup; buy the golds as singles if a gold is the goal.
Stock on an older set comes and goes, so the links above always show what is buyable right now. If a product shows sold out, use Notify me on its page and we will email you when more arrives. To follow the market for every product in the release, sealed prices are tracked nightly on Market Insights (no login needed):
Set facts are from The Pokémon Company International's announcements and the official Pokémon TCG site. Pull rates are community-tracked figures, not official Pokémon numbers.
