Surging Sparks (SV08) released on November 8, 2024 as the eighth main expansion of the Scarlet & Violet Series, and it is the Pikachu ex set: a Stellar Tera Pikachu ex leads it in four prints, from the regular Double Rare to the gold Hyper Rare, with Alolan Exeggutor ex, Archaludon ex and Latias ex alongside. The official expansion page frames it as a tropical, dragon-heavy set (Dialga, Palkia, Eternatus and Tatsugiri ex among the Dragon types) and points at its ACE SPEC cards, each deck limited to one: Megaton Blower, Miracle Headset, Precious Trolley and Scramble Switch. Nine of its Pokémon ex are Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, each with a gem-named attack that needs three different types of Energy, from Pikachu ex's Topaz Bolt to Alolan Exeggutor ex's Swinging Sphene. The official page also points at the art: the illustration rares pair up thematically, Feebas and Milotic being the example it gives.
This page is the reference list: every Surging Sparks card in set order, with the rarity names printed on the cards and used by most price trackers, the illustrator credit, and the card text. The other Scarlet & Violet era lists so far: Scarlet & Violet, Paldea Evolved, Obsidian Flames, Stellar Crown. For pull-rate math and buying advice on a hard set, our Pitch Black pull rates article covers that; the 30th Celebration guide is the friendly end of the scale.

Surging Sparks pull rates
Figures come from two community trackers that agree within a few packs on the first four tiers: a tracker's odds table and a documented 500-pack opening (both named in our notes). They are community-tracked, rounded, and not official Pokémon numbers; a single box can land anywhere around them.
Rarity
Odds per pack
Notes
Double Rare
about 1 in 6 packs
Six per 36-pack box.
Ultra Rare
about 1 in 15 packs
Two or three per box, for any of the 21.
Illustration Rare
about 1 in 13 packs
About three per box, for any of the 23.
ACE SPEC Rare
about 1 in 20 packs
Close to two per box, for any of the eight.
Special Illustration Rare
about 1 in 70 to 90 packs
One every two to two and a half boxes, for any of the 11; the two trackers sit at the two ends of that range.
The two disagree on the gold Hyper Rares, about 1 in 100 packs on one and 1 in 189 on the other (five golds in 500 packs is too thin a sample to settle it), so we leave that figure out rather than guess.
The practical reading: the odds above are for any card of that tier. The odds of the one card you are chasing are those odds divided by the number of cards in the tier, which is why a specific Special Illustration Rare is usually cheaper to buy as a single than to open for.
Surging Sparks sits in the hard middle of the era, with the roughly 1 in 90 Special Illustration Rare odds that began at Temporal Forces, against about 1 in 32 for the 2023 sets and about 1 in 47 for Paradox Rift. With 11 SIRs in the tier, one specific card is a long shot, which is why the Pikachu ex SIR is a buy-the-single card. Prismatic Evolutions, the special set that followed, roughly doubled the SIR rate; the Mega Evolution Series is harder again, and our Pitch Black article walks through that math.
The chase cards in Surging Sparks
Pikachu ex owns this set: the Special Illustration Rare (238/191) led the Market Insights value ranking when this page was built, the gold Hyper Rare (247/191) ranked fourth and the full-art Ultra Rare (219/191) eighth. Latias ex (239/191) and Milotic ex (237/191) are the next SIRs, followed by Durant ex (236/191) and Hydreigon ex (240/191); the Latios (203/191) illustration rare breaks into the top ten alongside the Alolan Exeggutor ex (242/191) and Lisia's Appeal (246/191) SIRs.

Tracking Surging Sparks prices
We do not print prices in our guides because they go stale fast. TCGGuy Market Insights tracks every Surging Sparks sealed product nightly, with a set index, seven-day movers and each product's history, and the singles page ranks every card in the set by market value.
Bottom line: Surging Sparks is a Pikachu set with a deep supporting cast: 23 illustration rares, 11 Special Illustration Rares, eight ACE SPEC cards and 2024 odds. Open it for the breadth; buy the Pikachu ex SIR as a single if that one card is the goal, because at roughly one SIR every two boxes and 11 to land on, a box is not the way to get it.
Stock on a 2024 set comes and goes, so the link above always shows what is buyable right now. If a product shows sold out, use Notify me on its page and we will email you when more arrives. To follow the market for every product in the release, sealed prices are tracked nightly on Market Insights (no login needed):
